Overview

VERINZO is a media player. You bring a playlist; we play it. This page describes every kind of data the app and this website handle, and it is written from what the software actually does rather than from what would be comfortable to say.

What we store

For each device that uses VERINZO we hold:

  • A device identifier and a device key. The app shows both on its own screen; together they identify your device to us and let you manage it from this website. The identifier is derived from an identifier Android gives the app.
  • Your activation status — whether the device is on a trial or a paid activation, and when it ends.
  • The playlists you save. The name, the link, and — where your playlist uses a server login — the server address, username and password. These are stored so your playlists survive a reinstall and so you can manage them from the website. Passwords saved this way are encrypted, with a key held outside the database.
  • Order details, if you buy from us: the name, email, country and phone number you enter at checkout, the plan, and the payment reference. Card numbers never reach us — the payment provider handles those.
  • Support conversations. If you write to us through the chat or the support form: the name and email you give, everything said in the conversation, any screenshot you attach, and the country the request appears to come from — worked out from the network, and accurate only to the country.

What the app sends

Beyond the above, the app reports a small amount of technical information so we can tell whether it is working:

  • Device manufacturer, model, Android version, screen size, and whether the device appears to be a TV, an emulator, or rooted.
  • The app version, and a hashed device identifier used to count devices.
  • When playback starts or fails: the type of stream and the domain it came from, plus the error if there was one. We do not send the name of the channel, film or programme.
  • Whether a sign-in to your playlist succeeded or failed — not the credentials themselves.

Who else receives data

  • Google (AdMob) — advertising is shown during the trial. The ads system uses your device's advertising ID and standard ad-request information. A paid activation stops VERINZO's advertising on that device.
  • Google (Firebase Analytics) — aggregate app usage, so we can see which screens are used and where the app breaks.
  • OneSignal — push notifications, if you allow them. Sending you a notification requires a token tied to your device.
  • Our payment provider — when you buy an activation, to take the payment and to handle refunds and disputes.

We do not sell data to anyone, and none of the above receives your playlists or your provider credentials.

What we don't do

  • We do not record what you watch. The app reports that a stream played or failed, and from which domain, without the title.
  • We do not use your provider credentials for anything except loading your playlist, and no advertising system ever sees them.
  • We do not ask for your location, your contacts, or the files on your device beyond a playlist file you choose yourself.
  • We do not sell or rent personal data.

How long we keep it

Your device record and playlists stay for as long as the device uses VERINZO, and go when you ask us to delete them. Orders and invoices are kept longer because accounting rules require it. Technical logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.

Your choices

  • Advertising. Android's own settings let you reset or limit your advertising ID, and a paid activation removes VERINZO's advertising from that device.
  • Notifications. Optional, and you can turn them off in the app or in Android settings.
  • Playlists. You can delete any saved playlist from the app or from your device page on this website, at any time, without deleting the rest.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to erase your device and everything saved with it at verinzo.com/delete-account. No account or sign-in is needed. That page explains exactly what a deletion removes and what we have to keep.

You can request deletion of your device and playlist data at any time by writing to support@verinzo.com.

Before we start

So we know who we are talking to, and where to reach you if you close the page before we answer.

We use this to answer you and for nothing else. How we handle your data.

VERINZOHello. Tell us what is happening and we will help — activation, a playlist that will not load, an order, anything.

A screenshot of the problem usually saves several messages.
